Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that I have
recently sanctioned the grant to two senior officers
of this Government of loans for the purpose of
assisting them to build houses for their own occupation,
upon the following conditions :-

The land is to be purchased at auction and is

to be within the Peak Reservation.
The contractor employed is to be approved by
Government.
The loan is not to exceed 2/3rds of the cost of
land and building or $20,000 whichever is less.
Advances to be made on certificates endorsed by
the Director of Public Works.
Interest at the rate of six per cent per annum to be paid half yearly.
Loan is repayable in twenty equal half yearly instalments commencing in the June or December next
following the completion of the house.
Fire and typhoon insurance to be taken out by the
officer.
A first mortgage on the property to be given to
Government.
